Data not collected
Moneta is built to keep your finances private. The app does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. There are no user accounts, no sign-in, no analytics SDKs, no advertising, and no tracking.
Everything you enter — account names, balances, currencies, types, and their history — is stored on your device using Apple's local database (Core Data). It is never sent to us, and we have no servers that could receive it.
Sync is off by default. If you turn it on in Settings, your data is copied to your own private iCloud account so it can be backed up and kept in step across your devices. It is stored under your Apple Account, governed by Apple's privacy policy — the developer has no access to it and cannot read it. Turning sync off stops further syncing; you can remove synced data at any time from iCloud settings on your device.
You can export everything as a CSV or JSON file at any time. Where that file goes is entirely your choice — the app only hands it to the share sheet.
The only network request Moneta makes is to fetch up-to-date currency exchange rates from a third-party rate provider (CurrencyFreaks, currencyfreaks.com). These requests contain only currency codes (e.g. USD, EUR) — no personal or financial data about you is included. You can turn this off in Settings → “Use online FX rates”.
If you enable the optional app lock, authentication is handled entirely by iOS. Your biometric data is managed by the system and is never accessed by, stored in, or transmitted from the app.
Moneta does not target children and collects no data from anyone.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
